Fun and colourful, these individual cake jars are to die for
Ingredients
For the cake
200g of Butter

200g of Whitworths Caster Sugar
200g of Self Raising Flour
3 Eggs
Food colouring of your choice (optional)
x4 Sterilised 280ml Glass Jars
For the filling
250g of Butter
-
500g of Whitworths Icing Sugar
Jam (Flavour and amount depending on personal preference)
Directions
Grease a foil tray bake tin with butter
Pre heat the oven to 160 degrees (fan assisted)
In a bowl mix the butter. Add the eggs and stir. Add the flour gradually and mix until smooth.
If you are adding food colouring separate the mixture into as
many bowls as colours required and add your chosen colours.
Once you have made all the colours that you require spoon
them into the foil tray in lines.
Bake for approximately 20 – 30 minutes (until the top as
turned a golden brown).
While the cake is cooling make the buttercream.
Buttercream
In a bowl mix the butter and icing sugar until it reaches a
smooth fluffy consistency.
*When the cake is cool take a glass jar. Cut out chunks of
the cake and press them lightly in the bottom of the jar to form your first
layer.
After you have you first layer spoon in some of the butter
cream mixture leaving a well in the middle to hold your jam.
Spoon in as much jam
as you require (we recommend a teaspoon amount).
Follow the *previous steps until you have a full jar.
Once finished you can you use the excess buttercream to
decorate above the rim and add any decorations that you like.
